Stefan Schönegg (*1986), born in Heppenheim, raised in Konstanz. Studied Classical and Jazz double bass in Berlin and Cologne, lives and works in Cologne. Works in between Improvised Music, Jazz, Classical Avantgarde. Founding member of the Cologne collective for improvised and contemporary music impakt.

As a demanded sideman Stefan plays concerts all over Europe and beyond. He worked amongst others with: Arto Lindsay, Theo Bleckmann, Simon Nabatov, Eve Risser, Tom Rainey, Ingrid Laubrock, Philip Zoubek, Matthias Muche, Carl Ludwig Hübsch. Besides working with his own quartet Enso, the octet BIG Enso and a growing number of different Enso lineups which deal with quiet intensities in between free improvisation and composition, he is involved in numerous projects like the Eva Klesse Quartett, Totenhagen, Die Fichten, Schmid’s Huhn, Simon Nabatov Trio and others.
